New Moon in Pisces Reading

Another month has passed and the New Moon is upon us! This month the New Moon occurs in Pisces on March 18th, ushering in a month of new beginnings in the areas of intuition, spirituality, healing, connection, and imagination. It’s the perfect time to ask the tarot for advice on these topics or just general advice for the month ahead. I used the Spacious Tarot to do a little reading for the collection. I offer you this interpretation of the cards in the hopes that it will help guide you in all your endeavors going forward. Take what resonates and leave the rest!

Tarot cards from the Spacious Tarot deck: Ace of Cups reversed, III of Wands reversed, and IX of Swords reversed.

Here are the prompts I used and the cards I drew:

What special message does my intuition have for me now?: Ace of Cups reversed

What will help me practice patience when growth feels slow?: III of Wands reversed

How can I show compassion for myself and others?: IX of Swords reversed

It’s time to trust your emotions and listen to your intuition. It’s time! The Pisces New Moon is calling for it and it is also supporting this type of deep emotional work. Pisces doesn’t shy away from any emotion, all are available and acceptable. Know that you are held and safe in this soft Pisces space to express yourself fully. Let your intuition guide you towards what needs to be expressed and how to do it. This is possible, try to allow instead of blocking when feels natural.

Maybe you have been afraid to be truly happy. Or maybe you have been afraid grieve or feel sad. Maybe you’ve been afraid to feel anything at all because what if you are overwhelmed by emotions? Hey, that’s ok. We’re not here to be perfect emotional beings and get this right every time. Know that emotions are simply a message, one of many that you have to work (you also have your thoughts, your body messages, and your spirit whispers too). You are invited to access your emotions and do your best. As long as your not sweeping your feelings under the rug, any work you do to try and express yourself is good enough. Well done!

With the Ace of Cups reversed, it may be hardest to trust your emotions when it comes to positive, happy, beautiful, or loving emotions. Can you really be happy? Are you allowed to feel content?! There is probably some time in the future, when you have done certain things, that you consider the appropriate time to be happy. You have to earn it first! Um, just nope. You don’t have to do anything at all to be happy, to have a good life, to be successful, and to have your needs met. These things are not contingent upon outside forces. Happiness is an inside job, it is intrinsic, you can feel it whenever. At this New Moon, try to wrap your head (and your heart) around the idea that you can have a happy, sweet, and lovely life just because you exist (not because you did something specific that was on your to do list, lost the weight, have money in the bank, or found that dream home, etc.).

Know that setbacks, obstacles, and blockages are part of growth. These aren’t signs that you are not growing. This is actually where the growth happens! Yes, it can be more fun to be on the other side looking back on how far you’ve grown, but that doesn’t excuse you from going through the messy work of growing now. You gotta put in the work. Keep adjusting and following your dreams. Keep reaching for goals and plans. Keeping moving along your path as it presents itself. Know that you are on the path even if it feels frustrating and full of delays. Someone once said that the obstacle is the path (ok, I looked that one up and there is a book called The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday. I haven’t read it but if you have, let me know in the comments if it’s any good), and that is the message of the III of Wands reversed. Sometimes we are in a growth phase and we just have to keep trying to do the work.

One thing that can help in these situations is to break big tasks into small steps. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the work, the path, the obstacles, the challenges that are cropping up for you, zoom in on just one aspect of the issue. You can’t do it all at once anyway, so there’s no reason to try and have it all in your mind at once. Take a little piece of the puzzle and just focus on figuring that bit out. If you’re trying to write a book, write one paragraph. If you’re trying to get fit, do one workout video. If you’re trying to get a new job, send in one application. If you’re trying to find a life partner, go on one date. You get the idea. Things get done one step at a time and now is a good time to figure out your next step. It doesn’t have to be big, just make sure it’s in the general direction that you are trying to head.

Here I am practicing what I preach and taking a much deserved break!

Throughout the course of all this deep emotional work, remember to always come back to compassion and kindness for yourself and others. The IX of Swords reversed advises us that compassion comes in the form of letting go of fears. Anxiety and worry should not be your natural state. These are not gentle or calm emotions. These are not what the Ace of Cups has in mind for you in the month ahead. Worry can have it’s place, when it is happening your prevent a disaster or figure out a problem. But most of the time it sticks around too long and isn’t helping you at all.

When you’re frustrated and running into obstacles left and right in the coming month, take a break. Step back! Rest and rejuvenate. Pisces energy wants to soothe and calm you. It wants deep listening that creates inner harmony. A break from the planning and goals and thoughts can create the space you need to find practical solutions. An overly busy mind can’t make those connections. Worry is just going to cause you to rattle around or even spiral into a vicious thought loop or maze. Worry isn’t helping, in other words. Go for a walk. Take a shower. Call a friend. Do whatever it is that feels like a healthy break to you and come back to the issue, obstacle, or problem later. Solutions may come more easily then, just popping into your relaxed mind that has the space for something besides anxiety.

There you go, my friends. I hope you have enjoyed this Pisces New Moon reading for the collective. I really liked how all the cards we drew were in reverse. This points towards the inner work that is called for during a Pisces New Moon. The answers are inside of you. They come from your intuition and from your heart. Take a moment to pause and listen to your inner wisdom today. And if you’d like a tarot reading specific to you and your circumstances, I offer email and video call readings. New Moon Blessings!
