Being Your Wacky Self with the New Moon in Aquarius, February 15th, 2018

Another Moon cycle comes to a close, while the next begins. Today, the Sun is in Aquarius and so is the New Moon and it's an eclipsed New Moon so we can expect super, extra Aquarius energy today. I have my natal Moon in Aquarius so I'm pumped about the whole idea of more Aquarius energy in my day. I'm also excited about new beginnings with the New Moon, as I'm signing a lease on a new apartment today. Perfect timing! I can't make this stuff happen, only magic sums up how this day came to be a lease signing day. This will be the first apartment that Kristen and I will move into without roommates, meaning we get to do the very Aquarius thing of setting our own rules and creating our own systems for our new home. We get to be innovative and our own unconventional selves in our space, something Aquarius revels in and enjoys to the max. The New Moon in Aquarius brings high level, big picture, cosmic energy. Make it a priority to get present with your overall life vision under this New Moon. Mid-February can be a time when we sort of give up on our New Year's resolutions and lose sight of what the point is of all the effort we put into setting our goals. Now is the time to realign yourself with that vision of your highest self that you are seeking to embody and ask for Aquarian guidance on how to keep yourself moving towards that ideal. Every little step is important, beautiful, and worthwhile. Keep at it! Here are some questions for you to ask the tarot to help you work with the Aquarius New Moon, followed by a general reading for our collective energy at this time:

Which area of my life needs new ideas and innovation? How can I best be my unique, unconventional self? What messages from the tarot will help me expand my life right now?

Which area of my life needs new ideas and innovation?- Father of Wands The Father, or King, of Wands invites you to breathe new, inspired life into your passion projects, your love relationships, your creative pursuits, and everything else that brings Fire energy into your life. This is a mature, responsible, capable energy that has you feeling strong and wise. Sometimes when we feel like we are in control and know what's going on, we miss out on opportunities to see things in a different light. Look at the lighting bolt in the image above and think of a strike of genius from out of nowhere. You want to be ready to see and experience that lighting bolt. You don't want to be closed down or shut off from inspiration and brilliant flashes of insight because you think you've already got it all figured out. Trust me, no one has it ALL figured out. The Father of Wands asks you to be open and willing to be always learning, always growing, ever on the look out for that next level of understanding. You can be a visionary leader, so let yourself have a vision and take charge of bringing that vision into creation.

How can I best be my unique, unconventional self?- IV of Pentacles reversed You've got to let go and allow the Universe to work it's magic through you! We all have a tendency to cling to our self-defined identities. This is called the ego. We like definitions, putting labels on ourselves and others, believing that something we do or have is who we are, but that is super stifling. It's also just plain wrong. You've got to break that identity box and allow yourself to change, to grow, to expand, to be whatever it is that this moment demands. For example, I used to identify as a cheese person. I made a mean grilled cheese sandwich, worked in cheese shops, and never left home without a block of cheddar. Other people also thought of me and cheese being very much identified in the same sentence. But then I read too much about the dairy industry, health studies, and environmental degradation and decided to stop eating cheese. Was I not myself anymore if cheese eating was such a part of my identity? I know this might seem like a silly example, but there are so many things you are hanging onto that define you that really have nothing to do with your soul essence. The IV of Pentacles reversed asks you to let go of the material things you cling to as who you are, because you are not your stuff, your habits, your job, etc. You are a divine soul having a human experience. Now let that experience be wild and amazing!

What messages will help me expand my life right now?- IV of Cups reversed Here we drew another IV card in the reversed position. The number IV is a highly stable and regular energy, one that adds structure and rigor to your world. With this number in reverse we are reminded how unstable and irregular life actually is. There are very few guarantees or sure things in life, and that can leave you feeling adrift, emotionally drained, or like hiding away. What can you accomplish from this withdrawn state, though? What does pulling yourself back and hiding your light accomplish? What is the point of playing it safe and not taking risks? Are you going to look back and be so happy and proud that you didn't try to do any of the things you dreamt of and wished you could do? "Thank goodness I didn't try in life, that might have resulted in too much fun and happiness (and figuring out how to deal with and supersede failure)." I don't think so! The IV of Cups asks you not to waste your life by denying yourself the opportunities to grow and learn even if they are tricky, difficult, scary, or risky. You need to take risks and you need to be brave, that's how you expand and that's how you make your life meaningful.

I hope you enjoyed this little New Moon in Aquarius reading. It's going to be another glorious Moon cycle, so spend a couple minutes today writing down an intention or two for the month ahead with the guidance of Aquarius. I intend to keep myself open to opportunities for expansion, to take risks in order to grow, and to create a beautiful and brightly airy home in our new apartment :) Until next time...
