The Wheel of Fortune is a kind of toss up, a roll of the dice, a “we’ll just have to wait and see” kind of energy. Some say that if it’s upright, you’ll have a stroke of good fortune, while if it’s reversed, your fortunes are on the outs. That seems a bit simplistic to me, but if that works for you, stop reading here and explore no further! You’re either about to strike gold or hit the skids, that’s all that you need to know.

The Wheel of Fortune can be much more subtle than that, though. The events of life can be random and hard to decipher. How do we really know what is leading towards our best and highest good and what is leading us astray? It is not a matter of pleasurable experience leading to good and difficult experiences leading to bad. In fact, so often our most trying and horrible circumstances are the ones that put us on our best path forward. Overcoming adversity and persevering through struggle oftentimes lead to our greatest moments of happiness.

So, when you draw The Wheel of Fortune upright it does mean that fortunate events or circumstances are coming your way in terms of pleasure and enjoyment and nonstop fun. Maybe that will happen, sure, and I hope you enjoy it! But more likely it simply means that you are on the right path and the Universe is guiding you in a direction that is for your best and highest good. Things may happen that challenge that perception within you, but the Wheel of Fortune is a reminder that even if things get tough, your can count these challenges and blessings upon your best path forward.

Likewise, if you draw the card in reverse, it doesn’t mean that bad things are going to happen to you, it can just mean that you’re on the wrong track and you need to take note. The reversed Wheel of Fortune is a sign to reflect, take a good look at what you’re doing with your life, and realize that maybe your avoiding struggle or floundering around in pleasure, instead of actually doing the work you feel has meaning and purpose for your life. It’s a signal to get back on track because you’re off the rails in a not so great way.
